Schoolly D didn’t spend money on videos. He was too cool for that. He spent it all on…um, I’m gonna guess Filas, Gucci watches, and weed. Mostly weed, probably.

Me and some cats drove out to Philly once to see Schoolly D. He had 2 big dudes on either side the stage whose only job was to hold up 5 fingers on one hand and 2 on the other, and nod their heads, when he did Parkside 5-2. Later we went backstage and he was cool about our drunkenness until one of his boys noticed I was wearing a Public Enemy shirt and threw us out. I wish it was still 1987 sometimes. Not often.

Anyway those first 4 albums he did should be cut on diamonds and shot into space. They are slept on classics.

Nowadays you kids know him only as the guy who, as David Rees says, does the theme song for that cartoon about the milkshake which people on drugs watch. But if you don’t know, now you know.

This would be cooler if it didn’t have dancers. Dancers are stupid, they’re why I hate music videos.
