I think and read a lot about how the brain works, and about dreaming and how that relates. Basically your consciousness, active brain imposes logic and order on a huge collection of random shit that’s tenuously and illogically linked together. In dreams there’s a surreal logic that links bizarre and random things which make sense in dreamtime, which in the waking life make no fucking sense at all.

The Internet has become an external reflection of our species, our culture and our consciousness and subconscious. Online worlds like Second Life and World of Warcraft, despite being utopian blank canvasses without any restrictions of physics or natural laws, just replicate our society: capitalism (real estate speculation in Second Life), exploitation (game farms), xenophobia (’killing’ game farmers), war, tribalism, etc.

But large user-generated databases, and the internet as a whole, have become huge seas of random memories, thoughts and images which create a kind of cloud consciousness–Flickr is a vast, unsorted memory of family and friends, Google is all unsorted data requiring your active consciousness to find what you actually want out of 3,100,000 hits. But YouTube has become an enormous randomly accessed dreamtime with its own logic. Delving randomly into it is to enter a cloud subconscious. For example:

What the fuck is all this? It’s dreamtime. It’s cloud subconsciousness delivered by fiber optics. As PE says, so many people are sleeping while standing up.
