Recently found out about this site as well, dope shit! & this is a really good list, so I’ll definitely check those joints out. I listened & sat through GKMC and didn’t feel anything for it either, just felt it had a lot of hype & hoopla over it. Heck, I was attacked by the bandwagoners of today for having my own way of thinking. But I’m glad you put Grief Pedigree up. Went through a lot of ups and downs this year & that album really helped me through.

A lot of my personal favorite albums are missing but that’s ok - you already mentioned them (atleast I think you did ) Skelethon is my #1 and ANX my #5 Melanin 9’s new album is great, too. Myka 9, Variex., Thavius Beck also released great projects.

I must say it’s very difficult for me to pick a favourite but I would have to go with ‘City On The Edge Of Never’ or ‘A Rhythm Runs Through It’ or ‘They Live… We Sleep’ or ‘The Spray Can Diaries’ or… Yeah, it’s very difficult.

There is so much to appreciate about your mixes. You have such a good ear for music. Also, I really like that you don’t show off with beat juggling/scratching or playing 30 seconds of a song that i’m just getting into and then moving on to something else. So many DJ’s do that and it ruins the vibe for me. So thanks for sharing with us and please don’t stop. I always get a buzz when I come to your site and there’s a new mix for me to download. It will be a sad day when you quit!!

I found the falling is the best piece as well. It’s just like Steve Reich’s Three Tales but somewhat better.

I also like the cybernetic pieces or bebop ones. Well anything you do that doesn’t feel too much rap.

Busdriver has an annoying voice and to me just tries to hard to be clever and funny, and isn’t. Not feeling that dude.

K-The-I??? has an innate sincerity I believe. He’s compelled to rap that way. It sounds like he maybe thinks he’s rapping normally but doesn’t know it, because somebody hit him in the head with a brick. He’s on some Oliver Sacks shit. (The Man Who Mistook His Wife For Being Hit In The Head With A Brick.) He’s ripping some super word salads up in this bitch. Also, I like his voice, his beat choices and his flow.

The first maybe dozen would be easy, but then I’d be putting up songs that are not necessarily great but just fit the list, and what’s the point in that?

The last 20 or so I guarantee would end up being bedroom Youtube rips of ‘Reppin’ Fargo’ by the Middlebury Middle School Gangsta Killaz (cf Bunk Beds Mother Fucker). Be easier to find enough great tracks for every former Soviet Republic, given how many great beatmakers there are out there, like Phox for example.

Overall it fits too well with my obsessive compulsive nature of wasting huge amounts of time.

What I like best about this idea is somebody else doing it. Maybe Complex, it fits their 20-clicks-per-article business model.

I totally agree – I got into Graveiggaz as a teenager. In part due to their ‘hardcore’ lyrical content and affiliation with the Wu. It wasn’t until later, once my ears had matured, that I realised how amazing the production is and how cohesive the concepts/themes are on 6 Feet Deep (actually released in New Zealand as Niggamortis). Another level… Everytime I peep the album I uncover something new. So many weird sample choices, adlibs and overdubs…

I’m also a big fan of 3 Feet High & Rising and the first the first Handsome Boy Modelling School… Yep, I got my turntables from a paper route and lawns!

I have to totally disagree with you Grandman is a trainwreck! He has no sense flow, he’s typical slammer. He has very little mixing ability. He just slams tracks. I can’t wrap my head around somebody who supposedly has “25 years in business” could be so weak at deejaying.

Maybe it was deadline thing. The mix sounded as it recorded in one take,lots of mistakes. Whatever the reason it’s pretty gruesome.

Ha! Good stuff! Very highlarious. I would totally buy the Wu phone.

As for Spooky, I dig some of his music (’Diary of a Dead Dreamer’ is a great album, and that ‘Object Unknown’ track with Kool Keith rules.

He does get a little pretentious sometimes, but so do I. I am a big fan of books (I am a Librarian).

His latest book (’Sound Unbound’ http://www.amazon.com/Sound-Unbound-Sampling-Digital-Culture/dp/0262633639, is a good read- he is only editor, so it’s a lot of pretentious (yet interesting) writings). It comes with a good CD too (I can upload it if you want).

It’s been awhile since I have been to your spot. Good stuff going on! Keep it up.

For real!!! The album is terrible. So disppointing. And did you noticed how nearly all songs followed the same formula…loop a sample of someone singing on the hook? That joint “You & I” sounded like a tune any 13 year old “producer” could have done. Rakim definitely blew it on his return to greatness.
